Released on March 28, 2025, Joeboy’s third album, Viva Lavida, solidifies his place as one of Afrobeats’ most dynamic hitmakers, known for crafting infectious love tunes.
Ahead of the album’s release, Joeboy dropped the singles “SMH,” a collaboration with long-time partner Tempoe, and “Taxi Driver.”
In discussing the album, Joeboy expressed his desire to bring positivity to a world filled with negativity. “There’s so much negativity around. Everyone’s trying to be toxic or fight. I just want to be a source of positivity, and that’s my message, my motto,” he shared.
Joeboy also touched on the variety of sounds featured in Viva Lavida, explaining that his extensive travel has exposed him to a wide range of cultures and musical influences, all of which helped shape the album. “Traveling has opened me up to so many ideas and cultures, and I wanted to let those influences inspire me in a positive way,” he said.
The 13-track album includes collaborations with Olamide, Elena Dara, Wizard Chan, and Qing Madi, who was featured on Joeboy’s 2024 hit single “Adenuga.”
Since breaking into the mainstream with his 2019 hit “Baby,” Joeboy has continuously delivered chart-topping hits that resonate deeply with his audience. His 2021 hit “Alcohol” achieved international success, surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify, making it one of the platform’s most-streamed Afrobeats songs.
