President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on winning the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award. This prestigious award recognizes individuals and organizations making significant contributions to global peace and development, particularly in sustainable human development, conflict resolution, and environmental conservation.
Tinubu commended Jonathan for his consistent advocacy for peace and democracy, describing it as a patriotic effort that has earned him global recognition. The President recalled Jonathan’s historic acceptance of the 2015 presidential election results and his peaceful handover of power to an opposition party, which bolstered Nigeria’s democratic profile.
Jonathan has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Founders’ Sunhak Peace Award, which will be presented by the Sunhak Peace Prize Foundation in Seoul, South Korea. The Sunhak Peace Prize was launched in 2015 and is awarded every two years to recognize individuals and organizations working towards peace and development.
Tinubu also thanked the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee for recognizing individuals working to improve the world. This award is a testament to Jonathan’s commitment to peace and democracy, and it reinforces his legacy as a champion of peaceful transitions and democratic governance.
