Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was denied entry to the official quarters of the state House of Assembly on Wednesday, where lawmakers loyal to his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, have been holding sessions.

Arriving at the complex with top officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, and Chief of Staff Edison Ehie, Fubara found the gate locked and was unable to enter.

Speaking to journalists at the scene, Fubara accused Speaker Martin Amaewhule of deliberately avoiding him, explaining that his calls to the Speaker had gone unanswered. “Before coming here, I tried to reach the Speaker multiple times and even sent a letter for this invitation,” he said. “But as you can see, the place is completely sealed, and there’s no sign of any activity today.”

Fubara emphasized that his actions were for the benefit of the people and reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his constitutional responsibilities. “This is for the interest of our people, which is the most important thing. I expect to hear from them after today,” he added.

After addressing the media, the governor and his team left the premises.
