At least two people were killed and up to 20 others injured after a student opened fire at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai district, north-west of Bangkok, on Friday.
The shooting occurred on the school campus in Nonthaburi Province, prompting teachers to evacuate students and staff as emergency responders and police rushed to the scene.
According to local authorities and media reports, the suspected gunman, who was identified as a student of the school, died at the scene after emergency personnel attempted to resuscitate him.
Police said dozens of rounds of ammunition were recovered from a bag believed to belong to the suspect. Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances surrounding his death or whether it was self-inflicted.
The Poh Teck Tung Foundation, a Bangkok-based rescue organisation, confirmed that ambulances transported several injured students to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The foundation also appealed to motorists to keep access roads clear to allow emergency vehicles to move freely between the school and medical facilities.
Law enforcement officers cordoned off the campus while investigators began examining the scene to determine the sequence of events and establish the motive behind the attack.
