Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a consignment of cocaine concealed inside a locally made mortar backpack at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The seizure was part of the agency’s continued efforts to stop the movement of illicit drugs through Nigerian airports and international routes. NDLEA said its officers acted on intelligence that led to the discovery of the concealed substance.

The consignment was reportedly destined for China, with the unusual method of concealment suspected to have been used in an attempt to evade detection by security personnel.

The agency reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and bringing those involved in the illegal trade to justice.
