President Bola Tinubu has approved fresh appointments across key national institutions, including the National Examinations Council (NECO), the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Federal Polytechnic N’yak-Shendam in Plateau State, and the National Library of Nigeria.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the Presidential Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, Prof. Modupe Adelabu has been appointed Chairman of NECO’s Governing Board, while the current Registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, will remain in office.

For NBTE, the president appointed Prof. Babatunde Salako as Chairman. Earlier, on April 10, Tinubu had reappointed the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris Bugaje, for a second and final five-year term.

In the polytechnic sector, Dr Bongfa Binfa was appointed Rector of Federal Polytechnic N’yak-Shendam, succeeding Dr Mukaila Ya’u, whose tenure ended on March 16. His appointment is for a single term of five years and followed a public recruitment process.

Before his appointment, Binfa served as Deputy Rector (Academic) at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, and was also a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Federal Polytechnic Idah.

Meanwhile, the president renewed the tenure of Prof. Chinwe Anunobi as Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria for a final five-year term. She was first appointed on September 2, 2021.

According to the Presidency, Anunobi has led reforms aimed at transforming the National Library into a technology-driven knowledge institution. These include the development of the National Repository of Nigeria, the National Virtual Library, and other digital information systems.

The statement added that the renewal of her tenure will ensure continuity of these reforms and support the completion of the National Library headquarters project in Abuja.
