In the wake of the ongoing protest, the Senate of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), has released a set of new resolutions aimed at restoring calm and addressing the disruptions caused by the demonstration.
In a memo dated October 24, 2025, and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Senate, Dr. (Mrs.) E. Jane Omoyine, the university directed all final-year students to write their outstanding examinations on Friday, October 31, 2025. Other students in 100, 200, and 300 levels are to take their exams a week before the resumption of the next academic session scheduled for November 2025.
The circular further mandates that all students must submit letters of undertaking of good behaviour before being allowed to register for the 2025/2026 session. Additionally, the Senate prohibited undergraduate students from driving into the campus starting October 31, 2025.
Perhaps the most controversial of the resolutions is the decision compelling every student to pay a ₦7,500 levy. According to the memo, the fee is intended to “defray costs incurred by the university” and to “mitigate the negative effect of the students’ unrest in media houses.”
The announcement has sparked further outrage among students, who describe the new directives as punitive and insensitive. Some claim that instead of resolving the underlying issues, the university is adding to their financial and emotional burden.
As tensions continue to mount, security operatives have reportedly been deployed around key areas of the campus to maintain order and prevent escalation. Meanwhile, student leaders have called for dialogue, urging the university management to suspend all new charges and reopen communication channels with the Students’ Union Government (SUG).

Bullshit..
Politics even in universities too? Did the students damage anything?
Instead of addressing the issue in a formal way here you are telling them to pay when they didn’t damage anything…
Very funny..
