Fury Targets Usyk Trilogy, Rejects Joshua

Tyson Fury is turning his attention toward a third showdown with Oleksandr Usyk instead of finally facing Anthony Joshua, according to his promoter Frank Warren.

Warren revealed that the former WBC heavyweight champion is planning a comeback next year, with his main goal being to avenge the two losses he suffered to Usyk, who currently holds the undisputed title.

“The fight he really wants is another go with Mr Usyk; he really wants that,” Warren told Sky Sports. “And they were great fights, really close fights, to watch. I’d watch that again. That’s the fight he wants. That’s the one he talks about all the time.”

Fury, who briefly retired for the fifth time in January, endured back-to-back defeats to Usyk in 2024—both by decision. In their first clash, he narrowly avoided being stopped, while the rematch also ended in a close points loss.

Despite doubts about whether Fury can still compete at the top level, Warren insisted the 36-year-old still has plenty left to offer. He described Fury as intelligent, self-aware, and fully capable of judging his own limits.

“He hasn’t got a lot of miles on the clock. He’s nobody’s fool, he’s a very smart guy, he knows better than you and me what he’s got left,” Warren explained. “He’s a fighting man, and if he decides that he’s going to move forward and do it, he’ll do it. He’s not a stupid guy who’s clutching at straws.”

While fans have long awaited an all-British mega fight between Fury and Joshua, the prospect appears uncertain once again. Despite years of negotiations and public anticipation, the two have yet to share the ring—and with both fighters nearing the later stages of their careers, the matchup looks increasingly unlikely.

Usyk, meanwhile, last fought in July when he defeated Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium. Other contenders such as Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel are also lining up for a chance to challenge the Ukrainian champion.
