FCT, Abuja The State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have distanced themselves from a court action seeking to stop the party’s forthcoming national convention scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November.
The chairmen reaffirmed their commitment to the unity and progress of the PDP, stressing that the lawsuit does not represent their collective position.
Speaking on behalf of the PDP Chairmen Forum in Abuja, the forum’s chairman and Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, condemned the actions of Austine Nwachukwu (Imo) and Amah Abraham Nnana (Abia), who were reportedly linked to the suit.
“We distance ourselves completely from the suit and the plan to use it to stop the PDP from holding its National Convention. This is not right,” Aziegbemi told newsmen.
According to a report by The Punch, the forum emphasized that all genuine party leaders are focused on ensuring a peaceful and successful convention that would strengthen the PDP ahead of future elections.
