Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has affirmed that all South-East governors are fully in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
In a video shared on Instagram by @peopleofebonyi_, Umahi confidently stated that each South-East governor stands behind Tinubu, citing ongoing developmental strides across the region as proof of their alignment with the president’s agenda.
“There’s no South-East governor that isn’t supporting the president,” Umahi said. “You’ve seen the works going on in Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, and Imo. We’re proud of what’s being done.”
Umahi, who has previously served as governor of Ebonyi State and currently oversees major infrastructure projects as Minister of Works, said his track record justifies his place in the conversation for future presidential leadership from the region.
“When the presidency comes to the South-East, I should be at the forefront because of my performance,” he asserted. “I challenge anyone to a debate governor to governor, from time to time on what we’ve done for the South-East.”
He emphasized that progress must trump emotion when advocating for a South-East presidency.
“We won’t get the presidency through sentiment. We need to re-engage with other regions, support them, and wait for God’s timing,” Umahi advised. “And who knows? When that time comes, the man standing beside the honourable minister may be the one chosen.”
He concluded by highlighting how both he and President Tinubu have played significant roles in improving the South-East and urged critics to focus on tangible achievements rather than political rhetoric.
