The legal team of embattled Kogi lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has raised concerns over what it calls a clear disparity in the handling of legal matters involving her. This comes in response to the Federal Government’s decision to file criminal charges against the senator, while multiple petitions she submitted remain unaddressed.

In a statement issued by her counsel, Uju Nwoduwu, the team revealed that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan filed twelve separate petitions between March and May 2025. These petitions reportedly contain serious allegations including cyberstalking, threats to life, defamation, and other security-related offences.

“The public expects law enforcement and prosecutorial bodies to uphold fairness, the rule of law, and impartial justice,” the statement read.

The lawyers emphasized that despite the seriousness of the petitions, many remain under review or have not been acted upon, even as separate allegations have led to formal charges being brought against the senator. Some of the petitions, they noted, involve incidents of violence and threats allegedly tied to public officials.

Although currently outside the country for personal reasons, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has responded to all official communications and expressed readiness to appear in court as soon as a date is set.

“She remains fully committed to due process,” her legal team affirmed, while also thanking the public for their continued support and urging for a fair, transparent, and unbiased legal process.

The statement concluded with a renewed call for impartial investigations into all pending petitions and a reminder that justice must be served without favoritism, regardless of political or social influence
