The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has discovered and shut down a warehouse in Kaduna State that was storing expired food and cosmetic products worth N75 million. The facility, Amanat.com, is situated at PP2A Bayajidda Street, close to Kano Road and New Ogbomosho Road in Kaduna State.

Shaba Muhammed, the Director of Investigation and Enforcement at NAFDAC, shared this information in a statement released on Tuesday. He noted that the agency took action based on a tip-off from a concerned citizen.

“After conducting a thorough surveillance operation, NAFDAC’s investigation team found a significant amount of expired goods, including biscuits, dairy milk, vegetable oil, soft drinks, and detergents, among others,” he explained. “During the operation, workers were seen transferring expired biscuits from their original packaging into sacks.”

He also confirmed that the Managing Director of the warehouse has been detained for questioning. Mr. Muhammed stressed that stringent regulatory penalties will be enforced once the investigation is complete, to deter others from engaging in similar illegal activities. He urged the public to be vigilant when buying regulated products and to report any suspicious items to the nearest NAFDAC office.
