A video has gone viral showing Pastor Terry Jackson of True Vine Apostolic Church in Virginia publicly shaming a young pregnant woman for having a child out of wedlock.
The video which was taken on Sunday, captures the emotional woman apologizing to the congregation, saying, “I’m sorry, I’m pregnant. I hope you can forgive me.” Pastor Jackson then condemned her actions, calling the situation “out of order.”
Pastor Terry Jackson took his rebuke further, announcing that the church would not acknowledge her pregnancy with celebrations such as a baby shower. “If you sin, you must repent immediately,” he emphasized. “We do not condone sin. There will be no baby showers. That is the consequence of having a child out of wedlock; no one in this church will participate in one.Thank God that He didn’t take your life.”
The video has sparked backlash, with different critics accusing Pastor Terry Jackson of publicly shaming the young woman. While some supporters defended his approach as necessary for discipline, many others condemned his actions. On social media, opinions were sharply divided.
Prominent American journalist Jemele Hill denounced the pastor’s behavior, stating on Instagram, “The only person who should be ashamed in this scenario is the pastor. I hope she finds a new church home.”
