First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has successfully empowered 30 young graduates via its internship initiative, the Flexxtern program. In a statement provided to our correspondent, Yomi Adebanjo, the Group Head of Human Resources at Signal Alliance Technology Holding, mentioned that these graduates were equipped with practical skills, real-world exposure, and a clear path to career advancement.
“The Flexxtern program offers a platform for self-exploration and career growth. We have been part of this initiative since 2021, and our experience has been outstanding. Our first Flexxtern is now employed full-time with us, and the second has also excelled. This initiative genuinely empowers young graduates and helps them pursue their dreams,” he stated.
Since its establishment in 2016, the Flexxtern program has provided more than 200 young Nigerians with valuable work experience through internships at reputable organizations, according to Adebanjo. He highlighted that the program, designed for individuals aged 18 to 30, has become a crucial launching pad for careers across various sectors. With each new intake, the program has expanded its reach and impact as more companies have joined the effort to empower the next generation of professionals.
“The Flexxterns assigned to us have made a significant difference in our organization,” remarked Olawale Ayuba, Vice President of GRC and Enterprise Fraud at ActivEdge Technologies. “Their contributions have been vital to our achievements, and we are eager to continue this collaboration to create additional transformative opportunities for young graduates.”
Ifeoluwa Adeyemo from Insight Publicis commended the program, stating, “The partnership has been a remarkable and impactful experience. The Flexxterns we have received are truly exceptional. Some are still with us, and we are dedicated to ensuring this collaboration flourishes and yields positive results.”
Felicia Obozuwa, Divisional Head of Corporate Services & Service Management at FCMB, highlighted the importance of partnerships in fostering a brighter future for Nigeria’s youth. “Our collaborations with leading organizations are founded on a mutual vision to nurture talent and stimulate economic growth,” she asserted.
Moreover, Diran Olojo, Group Head of Corporate Affairs at FCMB, emphasized the bank’s commitment to equipping young people for future careers. “At FCMB, we are devoted to creating opportunities for youth to develop the necessary skills for success. The Flexxtern program embodies our pledge to shape the next generation of leaders by providing mentorship, practical training, and real-world experience,” he remarked.
