Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, appoints Professor Medinat Folorunsho Salman as the pioneer Acting Vice-Chancellor of the newly established Kwara State University of Education, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Salman, a professor of mathematics education, was until the appointment a lecturer at the Department of Science Education and coordinator of the Educational Technology Centre at the University of Ilorin.

She earned her Bachelor of Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1985; a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education at the University of Ilorin in 1990; and a doctoral degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Ilorin in 1998.

She is the first female professor from Ilorin Emirate.

“Her research interests are Mathematics Education, gender issues in mathematics and science education, and innovation in mathematics education in the developing world”, a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, released to the press on Tuesday.

“The appointment is with immediate effect”, the statement said.

Recall that the state government established the University of Education, Ilorin in May this year.
