DJ Cuppy, the talented daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, has made history as the first British Nigerian to host an opening session at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). At the “Summit of the Future – Youth Actions Day,” Cuppy showcased her influence and charisma, getting the entire assembly chanting together during her keynote session.

With her trademark wit and charm, Cuppy introduced herself, saying, “My name is Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, but you can call me Cuppy. I’m ‘repping’ a country called Nigeria… I’m a DJ, philanthropist, but also your moderator.” She emphasized the importance of youth taking action and leadership that brings everyone to the table.

As the founder of the Cuppy Foundation, Cuppy proudly shared her organization’s efforts in providing funds for African students, highlighting her favorite Sustainable Development Goal (SDG): “Opportunity for Everyone to Get Quality Education.”

In a surprising moment, Cuppy hinted at her future ambitions, suggesting she might become Nigeria’s first female president. The audience was electrified, and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed responded with a teasing remark, “You told me you wanted to be Nigeria’s first female president, and what did I say? After me.”

This lighthearted exchange between the two trailblazing women symbolized the growing momentum behind women’s leadership in Nigeria and globally.

Beyond her social and philanthropic endeavors, Cuppy is an accomplished academic, holding degrees from King’s College London, New York University, University of Oxford, and currently pursuing her fourth degree at the London School of Economics.

Cuppy’s achievements serve as inspiration for the next generation, demonstrating that with determination and hard work, anyone can make a lasting impact.
