The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) has unveiled the 19th edition of the Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF) for registered AAAN organizations. On Tuesday, the LAIF board presented the LAIF 19th awards in Lagos, revealing the Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN) as new participants for the first time.
Lanre Adisa, AAAN President, highlighted that the LAIF Awards serve as a premier stage for showcasing exceptional creativity across Nigeria and the West African region. “LAIF honors innovative ideas, with all marketplace brands emerging from creative thought. MIPAN’s inclusion this year underscores the significance of collaboration within the advertising sector,” Adisa noted.
Jay Chukwuemeka, Chairman of the LAIF Management Board, introduced the theme for the 2024 LAIF Awards: ‘Staying A-LAIF.’ He explained that the theme symbolizes the industry’s resilience and adaptability in overcoming challenges on both local and global scales.
Despite the difficulties faced in 2024, Chukwuemeka praised both large and small advertising agencies for their remarkable perseverance. “We are not just recognizing survival but celebrating the ability to thrive amidst adversity,” he remarked.
Chukwuemeka also announced the addition of new award categories and the launch of the ‘LAIF Academy,’ which allows accredited AAAN agencies to vote for their top choices in the newly established ‘Agency Choice Award.’ Another new feature, the LAIF Report, will rank advertising agencies and document their achievements.
He emphasized that the entry fees for the 2024 LAIF Awards will remain the same to foster broader participation from agencies across Nigeria and West Africa. “We are dedicated to inclusivity and to growing LAIF together with all eligible agencies,” he concluded.
