Fidelity Bank Plc has joined forces with ImpactHER to offer a new round of complimentary digital and AI skills training specifically for businesswomen. Over five days, the program trained 1,276 female entrepreneurs in essential digital and artificial intelligence skills.

Osita Ede, Fidelity Bank’s Divisional Head of Product Development, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, “Data shows that women-led small businesses make up over 40 percent of micro, small, and medium enterprises in Nigeria.

This highlights the crucial role female entrepreneurs play in economic development. At Fidelity Bank, we are committed to empowering women with the skills needed to manage successful businesses, supporting individual growth, business success, and economic prosperity.”

Delivered online by ImpactHER, the training included a range of topics on utilizing technology for business success, such as ‘Starting with Email Marketing’, ‘Using AI for Content Creation in Small Businesses’, and ‘Effective Branding and Positioning’.

Efe Ukala, founder of ImpactHER, remarked, “Women and girls are statistically 25 percent less likely to use digital technology for basic tasks, four times less likely to understand computer programming, and 13 times less likely to file for tech patents. This underscores the need to equip African women with digital skills to scale their enterprises.

By closing the e-commerce digital divide, Africa could boost its GDP by $180 billion by 2025. This no-cost training, supported by Fidelity Bank, helps us reach more women and provide them with essential skills to drive economic growth.”

Participants lauded the program for its practical approach and the immediate relevance of the skills acquired. With this August 2024 cohort, the total number of women entrepreneurs trained through this partnership has reached 5,719.
