The Lagos State Government has revealed plans to reroute traffic at Ikeja Along Bus Stop, specifically between Ile Zik and the Conoil Filling Station on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway’s Oshodi-bound side.

The rerouting, scheduled for two days—from Saturday, August 17, 2024, to Sunday, August 18, 2024—will take place between 12 midnight and 4 a.m. each day. This temporary measure is necessary to ensure the safe dismantling of the old pedestrian bridge in the vicinity.

The announcement was made on Thursday through the state Ministry of Transportation’s official X account.

The ministry’s statement also noted that only one lane will remain open to motorists traveling from Ile Zik Bus Stop to Conoil Filling Station on the Oshodi-bound stretch.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, clarified that this diversion will not impact motorists heading toward Dopemu/Abule Egba during the bridge removal. He also mentioned that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be on-site to oversee traffic flow and reduce inconveniences.

Osiyemi urged drivers to exercise patience, explaining that the temporary closure is part of the broader traffic management strategy devised by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority for the safe removal of the pedestrian bridge.

He added that protective measures, such as jersey barriers and safety nets, will be installed to ensure the safety of both motorists and pedestrians throughout the demolition process.
