Students who were on their way to attend the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students, FECAMDS, in Enugu were abducted by gunmen.
According to reports, the victims, over 20 from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, along with a house office, were kidnapped in Benue State.
The kidnapping occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of Benue State, where the students were ambushed by the gunmen while traveling together.
According to reports from Sahara reporters, SP Catherine Anene, who is the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, confirmed the incident and said that an investigation is currently ongoing.
She said, “Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing.”
“It happened, but there is not much I can tell you for now,” she added.
