The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) is preparing to revise the Domestic Crude Supply Obligations Regulations 2023. This announcement was made in a notice signed by the Commission’s Chief Executive, Gbenga Komolafe, on Thursday. Additionally, the NUPRC plans to review the National Data Repository Regulations.
In the notice, the Commission expressed its intention to engage with stakeholders to gather their feedback.
“According to Section 216 (1) of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, the Commission is mandated to consult with stakeholders before finalizing any regulations or amendments. Consequently, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission invites contributions from lessees, licensees, permit holders, host communities, and other relevant parties in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum sector. Stakeholders have 21 days from the date of this publication to submit their input.
The focus areas for stakeholder feedback include the National Data Repository Regulations and the Amendment to the Production Curtailment and Domestic Crude Oil Supply Obligations Regulations 2023,” the notice stated.
Stakeholders were encouraged to download and examine the draft regulations available at https://www.nuprc.gov.ng/regulations-development-pia-2021/.
“As part of the stakeholder consultation process, input on these regulations is requested to ensure alignment with the objectives of the PIA 2021,” the NUPRC further announced.
The Commission specified that all feedback should be submitted using the format provided via a link on its website and must be received within 21 days of this notice’s publication.
“Please send your submissions to Kingston Chikwendu, Head of the Regulations and Statutory Compliance Unit at NUPRC, via regeon@nuprc.gov.ng,” the statement concluded.
This notice comes amidst concerns about alleged noncompliance with the existing Domestic Crude Supply Obligations regulations by crude producers.
