The Bauchi State Police Command has reported the arrest of Usama Mohammed, a 20-year-old from Jalo village in Giade, by detectives from the Giade Divisional Police Headquarters. According to a press release by Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil, on Sunday, the suspect faces charges of criminal conspiracy, trespassing, and armed robbery.
Wakil explained that the arrest followed a distress call on August 2, 2024, around 9:40 PM. The call detailed a break-in by four armed robbers equipped with knives and cutlasses. They stole an Itel A70 phone worth N75,000 and a Huawei phone valued at N30,000.
Wakil added that after receiving the call, a team of detectives led by the Giade DPO promptly arrived at the scene and detained Usama Mohammed, while the other suspects remain at large. The police are actively pursuing leads to capture the remaining individuals.
The state Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, has instructed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a comprehensive and detailed investigation.
