The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has cautioned its customers against paying cash to unauthorized metering agents. This announcement coincides with the availability of new meters acquired through the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) scheme. The initiative is intended to enhance service quality and resolve issues related to estimated billing for its customers.

In a recent statement, IBEDC’s Acting Managing Director, Francis Agoha, advised customers to register for meters through the official MAP scheme platform to ensure a smooth and secure process. This platform has been specifically designed to prevent unauthorized transactions and improve the customer experience.

Agoha highlighted concerns about unauthorized individuals collecting cash payments for meters and other services. He urged customers to avoid making cash payments to third parties and recommended using the official website for all meter registration and payment activities. The statement emphasized the importance of using secure channels for transactions to prevent fraud.

IBEDC assured customers that it has implemented multiple secure payment options to facilitate convenient transactions. For those who need to make cash payments due to limited access to online services, the company advised obtaining a valid receipt that includes the customer’s copy to avoid potential fraud. Agoha reiterated the importance of caution and advised customers to avoid dealing with unauthorized agents claiming to represent IBEDC.
