Wigwe University, founded by the late CEO of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, is scheduled to begin operations in August 2024. Located in Isiokpo, Rivers State, the university will offer a range of programs across four colleges: Management and Social Sciences, Art, Science and Computing, and Engineering.

Prof. Miles Davis from the United States has been appointed as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, and the Board of Trustees includes notable figures such as Prof. Fabian Ajogwu and Dr. Ajoritsedere Awosika.
According to the university’s website, all programs will be delivered to international standards, with collaborations with key international partners. The university aims to shape Africa’s future in global education and inspire a new generation of leaders.
The university’s fees range from N9,600,000 for the College of Arts to N11,998,800 for the Colleges of Engineering, Management and Social Sciences, and Science and Computing.
The late founder, Herbert Wigwe, who died in a helicopter crash in February 2024, had a vision to empower youth and change the world. His legacy continues through Wigwe University, which promises to be a leader in global education.
The university’s innovative approach to higher education, commitment to research, community engagement, and academic excellence, and blend of home-based and foreign faculty members, promises to instill a sense of purpose, foster creativity, and inspire fearless leaders who will make a significant impact on the world.
