Super Falcons goal keeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, wins another award in France and has emerged the first African to win the National Union of Professional Footballers award for the best goalkeeper in the french women’s league.
The Union for Professional Football Players (UNFP), which is the major union for professional football in France, crowned Nnadozie the best goalkeeper for the 2023/2024 season in the French Division1 feminine league.
Nnadozie has been impressive in her performance thereby leading her to win different awards and she played a key part in Nigerian’s bid for the women’s football at the Paris Olympics.
In 2023, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Nnadozie goal keeper of the year where she beat out Khadija Er-Rmichi of Morocco and Dlamini of South Africa to claim the title.
The Nigeria star beat a strong field that included Olympic Lyon’s Christiane Endler, Katarzyna Kiedrzynek of PSG, FC Fleury’s Chloe N’Gazi and Kinga Szemik of Stade de Reims, to the individual accolade.
The 23-year-old also claimed the best goalkeeper in the French D1 Arkema (women’s league) last month. Nnadozie’s penalty-saving heroics in particular have cemented her status as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
She is the leading penalty specialist, boasting the highest number of saves from the spot among elite goalkeepers in the men’s and women’s top European leagues since the start of the 2023/24 season.
Nnadozie has established herself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
