President Tinubu Returns to Aso Rock Villa

"President Bola Tinubu, along with his aides, will return to Nigeria from Europe tomorrow."

After two weeks away, Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has finally arrived in Abuja. Early on Wednesday morning, Tinubu arrived at the Aso Rock Villa, his official residence in Abuja, according to PUNCH Online.

Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, disclosed in a tweet on Tuesday night that “President Bola Tinubu, along with his aides, will return to Nigeria from Europe tomorrow.”

Following the invitation of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the President left Abuja two weeks ago, on April 23, 2024, for a three-day official visit to The Netherlands.

He took part in the Nigerian-Dutch Business and Investment Forum, which brought together leaders of organizations and conglomerates from both nations when he was in the Netherlands.

Additionally, he had private talks with the Kingdom’s Queen Maxima, King Willem-Alexander, and His Royal Majesty.

Tinubu traveled from The Netherlands to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as previously announced by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, to attend a World Economic Forum Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development, which was set for April 28–29.

He reviewed the steps done since the first Growth Summit, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2023, alongside more than 1,000 executives from industry, government, and academia from more than 90 countries.

In the last five months, he had made two trips to the Gulf state. Nevertheless, the President took some time to travel home after the summit.

Sources within the Presidency revealed that the President went to London for a private visit and was scheduled to return last weekend, even though no formal statement was made regarding his upcoming commitments.

Between June 24 and 28, 2023, Tinubu made a similar clandestine trip to London, where he met Muhammadu Buhari, his predecessor. A few days previously, he had attended the New Global Financial Pact summit in Paris.

With his return on Wednesday, he will have spent 96 days overseas on his 20th journey abroad since taking office in May of last year.
