The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the federal government to immediately address pressing issues that require attention in the nation by putting in place practical measures to lessen the financial burden on the Nigerian people in light of the hardship that Nigerians are currently experiencing as a result of fuel scarcity and other policies of the federal government.

At a press conference, Comrade Usman Abubakar Mansur, Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Bauchi Axis, made the call on behalf of NANS Bauchi Axis.

Accompanied by other Axis commanders, Usman Abubakar Mansur stated, “We gathered here today under the umbrella of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Bauchi Axis, to address the pressing issues facing our nation, Nigeria, particularly those that directly impact the welfare and livelihood of Nigerian students.”

They also insisted on accountability and openness in the administration of the nation’s natural resources to guarantee that the welfare of the populace—particularly students—is given top priority.

He further explained “we must highlight the dire economic hardships that our fellow citizens, including students, are enduring. The skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, coupled with the persistent scarcity of electricity and the exorbitant rates of electricity units, have created an unbearable burden on the shoulders of the Nigerian populace.”

“This dire situation directly affects the ability of students to pursue their education effectively and contributes to the overall deterioration of our quality of life.”

“As representatives of the Nigerian student community in Bauchi State, we remain resolute in our commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of students across the nation,” he added.

“We urge the Federal Government to heed our call for urgent action to alleviate the economic hardships facing our people and ensure a brighter future for the youth of Nigeria.”

“Furthermore, we express our profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi/Chairman PDP Governors Forum) for his unwavering support towards education, students, and the NANS Bauchi Axis,”

“His continuous commitment to improving the educational sector and enhancing the welfare of students is commendable and serves as a beacon of hope for the youth of our state.”

In conclusion, he expressed sincere gratitude to His Excellency for recently giving the Chairman of the JCC NANS Bauchi Axis a car. He noted that the governor’s commitment to developing student leaders and strengthening their ability to successfully serve their fellow students is demonstrated by this gesture.
