Pelumi Nubi, a 28-year-old travel content creator from the UK with Nigerian roots, successfully completed her solo road journey from London, UK, to Lagos, Nigeria, after traveling a 68–day  journey . Nubi began her solo expedition behind the wheel on January 30th.  Her arrival at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border was met with a warm reception by officials representing the Lagos State Government.

Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the Commissioner of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, along with Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, were part of the welcoming committee for Nubi’s return. Beginning her journey on January 31, Nubi traversed through 17 countries, including France, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, and several others, before finally arriving at her destination in Lagos.

Despite facing multiple challenges during her journey, including a crash in March that resulted in considerable damage to her vehicle, Nubi remained resolute in her mission. Her relentless resolve to conquer obstacles and demonstrate that “impossible” is merely a word, propelled her forward throughout the expedition.

Having explored 80 out of the 193 countries worldwide, Nubi’s adventurous nature and resilience have garnered admiration and acknowledgment. Gboyega Akosile, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos Governor, used Twitter to extend a warm welcome to Nubi on behalf of the Lagos State Government.

In his tweet, Akosile conveyed the government’s gratitude for Nubi’s impressive accomplishment, emphasizing her journey as a testament to the strength of determination and persistence. The gesture from the Lagos State Government highlights the importance of Nubi’s achievement and its ability to inspire others to pursue their aspirations relentlessly.
