Punishing Academic Fraud: JAMB Exposes Fake IJMB Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has uncovered a shocking case of academic fraud, revealing that 21 candidates with fake Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) results were recommended for 2023 admissions by various institutions.

According to a policy document obtained by our correspondent, 12 of the 21 candidates were recommended by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. JAMB emphasized that these candidates were not approved, highlighting the audacious attitude of the institutions involved.

The affected institutions failed to conduct proper certificate screening before registration, allowing the fake results to slip through. JAMB insists that all certificates must bear the signature of the Head of the institution (VC/Provost/Rector).

In response to this issue, JAMB unveiled the Nigerian Post-Secondary Education Data System verification platform in 2021 to verify IJMB and JUPEB results. This move aims to curb irregularities and faking of results, ensuring the integrity of the education sector.

JAMB has taken proactive measures to address this issue, stating that it will not allow unscrupulous individuals to undermine the gains made in the education sector. The Board is determined to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity and authenticity.
