Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has marked her third anniversary in the National Assembly with the distribution of laptops and other smart devices to selected secondary schools in her constituency.
The initiative, which took place on Monday, November 2, 2026, was aimed at improving digital learning and expanding students’ access to educational resources.
According to a statement issued by her media aide, Mike Idoko, the senator visited Oboroke Community Secondary School, Adavi Model Secondary School in Adavi Eba, and Community Secondary School, Obangede, where the devices were presented to beneficiaries.
Speaking during the exercise, Akpoti-Uduaghan said the intervention reflected her commitment to quality representation, educational development and youth empowerment.
She explained that public office should go beyond legislative activities and political responsibilities, stressing that elected representatives must make practical contributions to the lives of the people they serve.
The senator described education as a critical investment in the future and said access to technology would help students develop relevant skills and compete in an increasingly digital world.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the devices responsibly, improve their digital literacy and remain dedicated to their academic pursuits.
Akpoti-Uduaghan also called on teachers and school administrators to ensure proper maintenance of the equipment and its effective use for educational purposes.
The lawmaker noted that her constituency development efforts covered several areas, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment and economic development.
In the health sector, she highlighted her advocacy for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre in Ihima through Senate Bill 521, which seeks to improve access to specialist medical services for residents of Kogi Central and neighbouring communities.
Other interventions she identified included efforts to improve road networks, access to potable water, school facilities, solar-powered infrastructure and skills acquisition opportunities for women and young people.
At Community Secondary School, Obangede, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Shehu Sule, commended the senator for extending the educational intervention to the institution.
Sule described the provision of digital devices as an important contribution to students’ learning opportunities and human capital development.
He also appealed for continued collaboration between the senator and the school to improve educational facilities and support academic activities.
The laptop distribution comes amid growing emphasis on digital literacy and technology-based education, particularly in communities where students have limited access to modern learning equipment.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said she remained committed to pursuing development initiatives that would improve educational opportunities and the general welfare of residents across Kogi Central.
