Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has asked the State House of Assembly to approve the reappointment of three commissioners and the appointment of 10 special advisers as his administration begins its second term.
The request was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, on Monday, according to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olayinka Oyebode.
The request came barely 10 days after Oyebanji’s inauguration for a second term, as the administration moves to establish its leadership structure and ensure continuity in key sectors.
The three commissioner nominees are Dayo Apata for Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Akintunde Oyebode for Commissioner for Finance, and Oyebanji Filani for Commissioner for Health.
The governor is seeking their reappointment to maintain continuity in the administration of justice, financial management, and healthcare delivery.
According to the statement, the proposed appointments are intended to ensure the effective take-off of the second-term administration and strengthen service delivery across the state.
The statement added that the justice, finance, and health portfolios are critical to the implementation of government policies and the smooth running of public institutions.
Oyebanji also requested the Assembly’s approval for 10 special advisers expected to support the administration in policy development, decision-making, and the implementation of its programmes.
The nominations form part of the governor’s efforts to put the necessary administrative structure in place as his government begins another four-year term.
The Assembly is expected to consider the nominees in line with the relevant legislative procedures. Their confirmation will enable the administration to complete the appointments and strengthen its governance team.
The development comes as Oyebanji begins his second term, with expectations that his administration will sustain ongoing programmes and pursue its development priorities across Ekiti State.
