The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced its National Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, appointing the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, as chairman and its presidential flagbearer, Peter Obi, as co-chairman.
The names of those selected for the council were made public on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, through a post on X.
Under the announced arrangement, NDC National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe will occupy the position of vice chairman, while Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the party’s vice-presidential candidate, has been designated as co-vice chairman.
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, will participate in the National Campaign Caucus and head the National Campaign Advisory Council.
The party’s National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, has been appointed secretary of the campaign council.
Those included in the National Campaign Caucus also comprise Deputy National Chairmen Sidi Bomi Abdul and Babatunde F. Alli, alongside Senators Ovie Omo-Agege and Victor Umeh.

Victor Ogene, who leads the NDC House of Representatives Caucus, and Muktar Usman, another member of the caucus, have also been included in the campaign structure.
In addition, the opposition party has established a National Campaign Advisory Council, with Lawal appointed chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe serving as co-chairman, and former Anambra State Governor, Dr Sam Egwu, designated as vice chairman.
Enekweizu will function as secretary of the advisory body, while Dr Danladi Abdulhameed Tambari has been selected as assistant secretary.
The advisory council is expected to feature representatives from states across Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to ensure nationwide participation in the party’s preparations for the forthcoming elections.
Among those appointed to represent their respective states are Chief Onyema Ugochukwu for Abia, Obong Ini Okon for Akwa Ibom, Hon. Oseloka Obaze for Anambra, Madaki A. Mohammed for Bauchi, Dr O.O. Osusu for Bayelsa, Dr Tor Ujah for Benue, and Ibrahim Alhaji S. Matawalle for Borno.
The appointments also cover Cross River, Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, the FCT, Gombe and Imo, with Chief Ugba Murphy, Professor Pat Utomi, Senator Roland Owie, Senator Akinyede Sola, Dr Okwesiliese Nwodo, Hon. Uche Okonkwo, Professor Iliya Ishaya Jalo and Chief Achike Udenwa named as representatives, respectively.
Additional representatives have been listed for Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo and Osun states.
The development follows Dickson’s announcement a day earlier that the NDC National Campaign Council would supervise and coordinate campaign activities for all candidates contesting under the party in the 2027 general elections.
Dickson made the disclosure after holding discussions with Obi, Lawal and members of the party’s National Working Committee on strategies for the upcoming polls.
In a statement published on X after returning from an overseas working visit, the former Bayelsa governor confirmed that he had hosted Obi and met with Lawal to review the party’s preparedness.
He said the meetings provided an opportunity to assess the NDC’s position and strengthen its readiness for the elections.
According to Dickson, the discussions focused particularly on the party’s preparations and its plans for the 2027 general elections.
