The Federal Government has announced that Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18, 2024, will be public holidays in honor of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival. This announcement was made on Friday by Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, who conveyed the message from Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulating Muslim communities both in Nigeria and abroad.

Minister Tunji-Ojo encouraged the Muslim Ummah to adopt the values of peace, compassion, and sacrifice demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He urged them to take this opportunity to pray for the nation’s unity, prosperity, and stability. Furthermore, he highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to ensuring the safety of lives and property and called on Nigerians to support the president’s initiatives to diversify the economy and accelerate economic recovery.

The minister extended his best wishes to Muslims for a joyous Eid-el-Kabir and urged all Nigerians to contribute to building a prosperous future for the country’s children. Additionally, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, declared Sunday, June 16, as Eid-el-Kabir, and encouraged the Muslim community to pray for peace and development.
