2027: APC Sets Dates for Primaries in Delta, Kogi, Other Restored Constituencies

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its timetable for primary elections to select candidates for recently restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta, Kogi and other states.

The development followed the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to restore the affected constituencies and schedule party primaries for August 21 to 25, 2026.

The APC’s timetable provides the framework for aspirants seeking the party’s tickets to participate in the nomination process ahead of the elections.

The affected constituencies had previously been removed from the electoral map but were restored by INEC, creating the need for political parties to conduct fresh primaries for the seats.

The ruling party is expected to use the exercise to select candidates who will represent it in the affected constituencies.

The announcement comes as political parties across the country intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections. The process is expected to attract interest from politicians seeking to secure the APC’s platform for the State House of Assembly contests.

Party members and aspirants in the affected areas are now expected to work within the timetable released by the APC as the primary election process gets underway.

The development also highlights the importance of the restored constituencies in the upcoming electoral cycle, particularly for political parties seeking to strengthen their representation at the state legislative level.

The APC’s timetable follows INEC’s decision to provide a fresh electoral opportunity for the affected constituencies, with party primaries expected to precede the eventual general election process.
