Osun Poll: APC Records Nearly 4,000-Vote Drop in Three Former Strongholds

The All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a decline in its vote totals in three local government areas of Osun State during the 2026 governorship election when compared with its performance in the 2022 poll.

The affected areas were Boripe, Ife Central and Ife East, all of which had previously been won by the APC in the 2022 election.

In Boripe, the APC’s votes dropped from 21,205 in 2022 to 19,963 in 2026, representing a reduction of 1,242 votes.

The party also recorded a decline in Ife East, where its votes fell from 19,353 in 2022 to 18,600 in 2026, a difference of 753 votes.

Ife Central recorded another significant drop, with the APC moving from 17,880 votes in 2022 to 15,913 votes in 2026, representing a loss of 1,967 votes.

Combined, the APC recorded approximately 3,962 fewer votes across the three LGAs in 2026 compared with its 2022 performance.

The figures have drawn attention because the three local government areas had previously been considered areas of strength for the party.

The decline could raise questions about voter turnout, mobilisation and changing political preferences in the affected areas as parties assess the outcome of the 2026 Osun governorship election.
