Adeleke Accuses Oyinlola of Disloyalty, Calls Him ‘Paperweight’

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has accused former governor of the state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, of political disloyalty following his decision to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Adeleke made the allegation while speaking in a video aired by Arise News, claiming that Oyinlola had previously complained to him about not having a car, prompting him to provide a new vehicle for the former governor.

According to Adeleke, Oyinlola subsequently moved from the African Peoples Movement (APM) to the APC and withdrew his support for the governor’s re-election bid.

The governor, who expressed his disappointment over the development, described Oyinlola as a “paperweight” politician in Osun State.

The remarks come amid heightened political activities in Osun as major parties and political actors intensify their campaigns and alignments ahead of the governorship election.

Adeleke is seeking re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Oyinlola’s alignment with the APC has added another dimension to the political contest.

The governor’s comments have also generated reactions, with some critics questioning his decision to publicly disclose details of the alleged gift, while others viewed the remarks as part of the increasingly heated political contest in the state.
