The Presidential Renewed Hope Media Team has praised the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for its efforts in advancing technology, innovation and local manufacturing, describing the agency as a key contributor to Nigeria’s industrial transformation.

Speaking during a tour of NASENI’s facilities in Abuja, members of the presidential media delegation commended the agency’s progress in developing indigenous technologies and promoting commercially viable innovations capable of creating jobs and reducing dependence on imports.

The delegation, led by senior presidential aides including Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, applauded NASENI’s ongoing reforms under the leadership of its Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Khalil Suleiman Halilu. They noted that the agency’s achievements demonstrate the potential of Nigerian talent when supported through purposeful leadership and strategic investment.

During the visit, the team inspected several NASENI projects, including drone technology, precision manufacturing, renewable energy systems, agricultural technology, helicopter assembly and recycling initiatives. The visitors also highlighted the agency’s focus on technology transfer, commercialisation and innovation through programmes designed to support Nigerian entrepreneurs and manufacturers.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, urged the media to give greater visibility to government programmes that promote industrial development, while encouraging Nigerians to support locally manufactured products. Other presidential aides also called for stronger patronage of Nigerian-made goods as part of efforts to deepen local production and strengthen the economy.

Stakeholders at the event stressed that sustained investment in science, engineering and innovation will be critical to achieving Nigeria’s industrialisation goals. They also called for continued collaboration between government institutions, the private sector and innovators to boost local manufacturing and enhance the country’s global competitiveness.
