President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has flagged off two major federal road projects worth ₦216.6 billion in Osun State, describing the development as part of his administration’s commitment to modernising Nigeria’s infrastructure and driving economic growth.

The projects include the 82-kilometre Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road, valued at ₦114.85 billion, and the reconstruction of the 44-kilometre Gbongan–Osogbo dual carriageway, estimated at ₦101.81 billion. Both projects are expected to be completed within 24 months.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the President said the projects would improve road connectivity between Osun and Oyo states, reduce travel time, enhance road safety and stimulate commercial activities across the region. He described infrastructure development as a key pillar of his administration’s economic agenda.

Tinubu also directed the contractors handling the projects to mobilise immediately and ensure that the roads are delivered according to specification and within the agreed timeline, stressing that quality must not be compromised.

The President noted that sustained investment in roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure is essential to unlocking economic opportunities, improving transportation and enhancing the living standards of Nigerians.

Stakeholders at the event described the projects as strategic investments that could improve movement of goods and people while supporting businesses and agricultural activities in the South-West.

The road projects form part of the Federal Government’s broader infrastructure programme aimed at expanding the national road network and strengthening economic integration across the country.
