The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has inaugurated a high-powered National Reconciliation Committee, chaired by renowned political economist Prof. Pat Utomi, to reconcile aggrieved aspirants and resolve disputes arising from the party’s recently concluded primaries.

The committee, which has Engr. Buba Galadima as Co-Chairman, is expected to engage with dissatisfied aspirants across the country in a bid to restore unity and strengthen the party ahead of its next political activities.

The decision was announced in a statement jointly signed by the National Chairman of the NDC, Senator Cleopas Moses, and the National Secretary, Mr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the seven-member committee also includes Mohammed Sanni Takori as Vice Chairman, Babatunde Alli as Secretary, while Mrs. Dudu Mamman Manuga, Hon. Salvador Adegoke Moshood and Alhaji Haruna Pai will serve as members.

To complement the work of the national panel, the party also constituted three zonal reconciliation sub-committees for the North, South-South and South-East geopolitical zones. The sub-committees are expected to facilitate grassroots engagement with aggrieved stakeholders and help address disputes at the regional level.

The NDC said the reconciliation initiative is aimed at resolving all outstanding issues arising from the primaries, promoting internal cohesion and positioning the party for future political engagements.

The National Reconciliation Committee will be formally inaugurated at the party’s national secretariat at 12 noon on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

The statement added that the full list of members of the national committee and the zonal reconciliation sub-committees will be unveiled during the inauguration ceremony.
