PSG Clinch French Cup In Mbappe’s Final Match

Paris Saint-Germain triumphed 2-1 over Lyon in the French Cup final, with Kylian Mbappe ending his PSG career on a high note before an expected move to Real Madrid. Despite not scoring, Mbappe saw Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz netting for PSG.

Dembele and Ruiz scored in the first half, while Lyon’s Jake O’Brien pulled one back in the second half. PSG, the most successful team in French Cup history, secured their 15th title, and their fourth since Mbappe joined from Monaco in 2017. This victory also completed a domestic double in Luis Enrique’s first season, although it was overshadowed by their Champions League semi-final exit to Borussia Dortmund.

The final was marred by clashes between rival fans near Lille, involving 300 supporters and resulting in two buses being set on fire and 20 minor injuries. French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the violence. Mbappe, who joined PSG in 2017 for 180 million euros, leaves with six Ligue 1 titles, four French Cups, and two League Cups.

In the game, Dembele also set up Ruiz’s goal in the 34th minute. Lyon, who had climbed from bottom of the Ligue 1 table to finish sixth, tried to rally but were denied by PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s crucial saves.
