Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Thursday held a meeting with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the House of Representatives from the state, amid growing indications that he may be planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, one of the Bauchi lawmakers who chose to remain anonymous said the discussion was part of ongoing political realignments at both the national and state levels.
“We are here today as members of the National Assembly to meet with our governor and leader. This meeting was convened on a special invitation to deliberate on the ongoing political realignment in Nigeria, particularly in our state. We have reached a positive understanding, and in due course, we will make our position known to the public,” the lawmaker said.
The development comes shortly after Governor Mohammed, alongside a senior member of the PDP, met with key stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), further fueling speculation about his political future as preparations for upcoming elections intensify.
