Seaman’s Schnapps has reaffirmed its dedication to preserving Nigeria’s cultural heritage with a courtesy visit to the Olubadan-designate, Rashidi Ladoja, ahead of his coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
In a statement, the brand noted that the visit aligns with its longstanding tradition of paying respect to revered Yoruba monarchs and supporting cultural institutions that embody unity, heritage, and leadership. The delegation, led by Nigeria Distilleries Limited’s Marketing Manager, Gbemileke Lawal, was received by the Olubadan-designate at his Ibadan residence.
Speaking during the visit, Lawal highlighted the symbolic importance of the Olubadan stool, describing it as a source of pride, strength, and continuity for the Yoruba people. He explained that the engagement was part of Seaman’s Schnapps’ cultural responsibility and a way of honouring the rich heritage of Ibadanland. “On behalf of Nigeria Distilleries Limited, we felicitate with Your Majesty as you prepare to ascend the throne. We pray that your reign brings peace, prosperity, and unity to Ibadanland,” he said.
Senior Brand Manager for Seaman’s Schnapps, Nnenna Uche-Onyenacho, also underscored the brand’s unique position as a custodian of tradition. She described the drink as Nigeria’s “Original No. 1 prayer drink,” noting its symbolic role in traditional rites, prayers, and cultural ceremonies across the country. Uche-Onyenacho emphasized that the brand’s presence at the event was both a mark of respect and an affirmation of its commitment to cultural preservation. “Seaman’s Schnapps joins millions of well-wishers in praying for Your Majesty’s long life and a successful reign as you mount the revered throne of Ibadan, Nigeria’s cultural capital in the southwest,” she stated.
Responding to the delegation, the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, expressed gratitude for the visit and the brand’s support. He described the gesture as a demonstration of love and goodwill, offering prayers for the continued growth and success of Nigeria Distilleries Limited. “I am deeply grateful for this visit and for your love. I pray that your team and organisation continue to flourish and grow in strength,” he said.
The visiting delegation included Uche-Onyenacho, Regional Business Manager for the West Region, Ibadan, Osadare Victor, and Activation Manager, Benson Oluwafiropo. Together, the team reiterated the brand’s commitment to strengthening ties with traditional institutions and celebrating leaders who uphold Nigeria’s cultural values.
Seaman’s Schnapps noted that its consistent engagement with traditional rulers reflects its recognition of the deep bond between culture and community. The brand emphasized that beyond being a beverage, it is an iconic symbol of heritage, often used in prayers, blessings, and significant milestones within Nigerian families and communities.
As Oba Ladoja prepares to be crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Seaman’s Schnapps said it is honoured to stand alongside millions of Yoruba people in celebrating the continuation of a legacy rooted in history, pride, and resilience. The brand reaffirmed its role as a cultural ambassador, dedicated to supporting Nigeria’s monarchs and cultural institutions in their mission to preserve identity, foster unity, and inspire future generations.
