The internal crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has taken another turn following the resignation of Samaila Leeman, a former council chairman and party member in Sabon Gari Ward, Chikun Local Government Area.
Leeman’s resignation comes amid continuing disagreements within the Kaduna chapter of the party as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development was reported by Leadership, although the specific reasons for Leeman’s departure should be attributed to his resignation statement and any further clarification he provides.
Leeman had joined the ADC after leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC), announcing earlier in 2026 that he intended to contest the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the ADC platform.
At the time, he said his ambition was driven by calls from supporters and residents who wanted him to seek the seat in the 2027 elections.
His decision to leave the ADC therefore raises questions about his political plans and whether he intends to pursue his electoral ambition under another party. However, no new political affiliation or alternative platform should be assumed without confirmation.
The resignation also comes against the background of disagreements within the Kaduna ADC over party leadership, candidate selection and the distribution of political positions ahead of the next elections.
Earlier reports have highlighted tensions between different groups within the party, with stakeholders expressing concerns over the control of party structures and the process for selecting candidates.
The party has also faced disputes over its state leadership and internal electoral arrangements. In October, reports emerged that the Kaduna ADC suspended its chairman-elect, Ben Bako, and secretary, Adamu A. Dattijo, pending an investigation into allegations of insubordination and other breaches. The allegations were presented by the party and had not, at the time of reporting, been established as findings against the officials.
Leeman’s departure adds to the challenges facing the party as it seeks to manage internal differences and prepare for the 2027 polls.
His next political move, if any, remains to be seen. The resignation also leaves open questions about the future of his previously announced ambition to represent Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency.
The ADC has yet to be shown as issuing an official response specifically addressing Leeman’s resignation.
As preparations for the 2027 elections continue, the party’s ability to resolve internal disputes and retain members will remain an important issue in Kaduna State politics.
