Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed appreciation to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, following the governor’s renewed declaration of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The development came after Adeleke celebrated his victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election and used the occasion to restate his position on Tinubu’s bid to remain in office for another term.

While addressing supporters and other stakeholders during his victory speech, the Osun governor acknowledged the role played by President Tinubu in ensuring that the electoral process in the state was conducted in a manner he considered transparent and credible.

Adeleke specifically expressed gratitude to the President for his alleged commitment to allowing the people of Osun State to freely determine their preferred candidate through the ballot.

According to the governor, Tinubu’s contribution towards ensuring a peaceful and credible election deserved recognition.

The governor further referred to Tinubu as someone with a connection to Osun State before openly reaffirming the endorsement he had previously given to the President ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

Adeleke stated that he remained committed to supporting Tinubu’s ambition to secure another four-year mandate at the federal level.

His declaration has attracted attention within Nigeria’s political space, particularly because Adeleke belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Tinubu is the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor’s latest remarks therefore represent a notable political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, with different political actors already positioning themselves for the contest.

Reacting to Adeleke’s statement, Keyamo took to social media platform X to publicly acknowledge and appreciate the governor for maintaining his position and making his endorsement known.

The aviation minister described Adeleke as a person who possesses strong principles, character and a sense of responsibility.

Keyamo said the governor’s decision to openly reiterate his backing for Tinubu demonstrated consistency and sincerity in his political position.

He thanked Adeleke for what he described as an unambiguous declaration in favour of the President’s 2027 presidential campaign.

The minister also praised the Osun governor’s character, describing him as an individual worthy of respect and recognition.

Keyamo further emphasised the importance of keeping political agreements and commitments, stressing that promises made should be honoured.

His reaction appeared to underline the significance of Adeleke’s decision to publicly maintain his earlier endorsement of Tinubu despite the political differences between their respective parties.

The development is expected to generate further discussions among political observers as preparations for the 2027 presidential election continue.

With major political figures gradually revealing their preferred candidates, Adeleke’s renewed declaration of support for Tinubu could add another dimension to the evolving political calculations ahead of the next presidential contest.

Keyamo’s response also indicates that the Federal Government and Tinubu’s supporters are taking note of political endorsements coming from influential figures across party lines.

For now, Adeleke’s public reaffirmation has strengthened the impression that his position on Tinubu’s second-term ambition remains unchanged, while Keyamo’s response has further highlighted the political significance attached to the governor’s declaration.
