Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fiscal discipline, vowing not to take loans to fund development projects.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony of a 16.5-kilometre asphalt road in Lere Local Government Area, Governor Sani emphasized that he would not plunge Kaduna into debt or abandon projects initiated by previous administrations.
The new road will connect Kayarda Tasha, Kayarda Gari, Unguwan Sarki, Maskawa, and Dan Alhaji, a development the governor described as unprecedented in the area’s history.
“We have completed several abandoned projects in Lere, and others are nearing completion,” Sani said. “Rewa Bridge in Gure is done, Marjeri Bridge is also completed, and Tudai Bridge will be ready within two months. We are also tackling the power supply issues in Yarkasuwa, Kayarda, Ramin Kura, and Mariri.”
At the event, Commissioner for Environment Abubakar Buba praised the governor for his integrity and commitment to grassroots development.
“He’s a man of his word,” Buba said, adding that Governor Sani has appointed several Lere indigenes into key government roles. “Lere is well represented, from our Majority Leader in the Kaduna House of Assembly, Hon. Munira Suleiman Tanimu, to Hon. Ahmed Munir in the House of Representatives, and our proactive council chairman, Hon. Jafaaru.”
Buba also highlighted the governor’s inclusive leadership style, noting that local leaders have been given autonomy to serve their communities effectively.
Hon. Munira Tanimu, House Majority Leader, recalled that the Lere road project was a top campaign promise in 2023. She expressed confidence that such projects would strengthen the APC’s position ahead of the 2027 elections.
Echoing similar sentiments, Hon. Ahmed Munir praised the governor’s long-standing ties with Lere, reminiscing about his youth as a striker for the local football club, Saminaka Celtics.
“Just as he scored goals on the football pitch, Governor Uba Sani is scoring big for Kaduna State,” he said.
