Nigeria, Korea Strengthen Bilateral Economic Ties Amid 45-Year Diplomatic Relations

Nigeria and Korea are strengthening their bilateral economic ties, marking the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. The Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Kim Pankyu, emphasized the growth in relations since his assumption of office, highlighting the stronger synergy between the two nations in cultural affinity, economic cooperation, security, and people-to-people exchanges.

The Korean embassy’s business operations in Nigeria have an investment-friendly environment, with the ambassador noting that Nigerian government officers recognize the importance of investment-friendly policies. Measures such as tariff and tax incentives are expected to attract more investment from Korean companies, benefiting both economies.

Key milestones in the bilateral relations include the first-ever Korea-Africa Summit, where high-level discussions facilitated meetings between Korea and Nigeria. The Nigerian delegation’s participation in the Korea-Africa Business Summit and various ICT forums also strengthened Korea’s engagement with African countries.

Nigeria remains Korea’s most important trade and investment partner in Africa, accounting for 10% of Korea-Africa trade and over 70% of Korean project contracts in South Africa. The bilateral trade increased by 38.6% in 2021, reaching over $2.2 billion.

The two countries are working to conclude key agreements, including the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement and the Trade and Investment Promotion Agreement. Korea is also committed to increasing support for capacity building in Nigeria’s military and security sectors.

In addition to economic cooperation, the Korean Embassy supports cultural and development initiatives, such as the Korean-Nigerian Information Access Centre and a project to promote digital governance and multimedia learning in primary schools.

The subsequent time I learn a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as a lot as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I truly thought youd have one thing fascinating to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you possibly can fix if you happen to werent too busy on the lookout for attention.
