The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the burial site of Lagos State University graduate Adedamola Ogunbode following the arrest of the prime suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo.
News source learned that Ajisomo, who was previously rumored to have fled to Benin Republic, was assisting police detectives in locating the deceased’s grave.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the developments in response to inquiries from PUNCH.
Ogunbode, a Political Science Education graduate from LASU, had been missing since January 16, 2025, amid speculation that his mutilated body had been found.
Last Friday, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the arrest of three suspects and the ongoing search for five others linked to the murder of a 2024 graduate.
Among those in custody is Whepetoji Sunday, a pastor accused of receiving N70,000 from the victim’s account, and Sheriff Adebayo, a church member alleged to have received N300,000.
It was also reported that the prime suspect’s mother, Omolara Ajisomo, was arrested.
She allegedly helped her children, Teniola and Olaoluwa Ajisomo, escape after they each reportedly received N300,000 from the victim’s account.
Following threats of a statewide protest by the students’ union, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.
Hundeyin confirmed that the prime suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, was arrested on Monday morning in the Alakuko area of Lagos.
He further revealed that Ajisomo was responsible for emptying Ogunbode’s bank account using the victim’s mobile phone.
“The principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, was arrested yesterday (Monday) morning in the Alakuko area. He was the one who cleared the victim’s bank account through the victim’s mobile phone,” Hundeyin stated.
However, he clarified that the grave was not located within the church premises, contrary to social media speculation.
He also noted that the police had sealed off the church where the arrested cleric worshipped after receiving intelligence about a planned arson attack in retaliation.
He stated, “The shallow grave is not within the church premises but is located elsewhere in the community. The church was sealed off after intelligence reports suggested plans to burn it in retaliation, which we want to prevent.”
Meanwhile, a source involved in the investigation revealed that police detectives were on their way to exhume the victim’s body from a shallow grave.
“The newly arrested suspect has confessed to killing the LASU graduate, and the police are heading to the burial site,” the source said.
When asked for confirmation, Hundeyin simply replied, “Confirmed.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
