Nigerian forward Akor Adams is on the verge of finalizing his transfer from Montpellier to Spanish club Sevilla after arriving in Spain on Saturday for a deal reportedly worth €5.5m, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Renowned transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on X on Friday. “Akor Adams will arrive in Sevilla on Saturday to complete his move from Montpellier for a €5.5m transfer fee. Exclusive story, confirmed,” Romano posted.
The ex-Flying Eagles striker has faced a challenging season at Montpellier, scoring only three goals and providing one assist in over 12 appearances. This marks a stark contrast to his impressive debut campaign, where he scored seven goals in Ligue 1 after joining from Norwegian club Lillestrøm.
The 24-year-old’s move to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium might further reduce the game time of fellow Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho, who hasn’t featured for Sevilla in over a month.
Sevilla recently suffered a surprising 4-1 loss to Almeria in the Copa del Rey and currently sit 11th in La Liga with 26 points from 20 games, just seven points clear of the relegation zone. The club will be counting on Adams to find his form and contribute to their turnaround in the latter part of the season.
