Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has sued the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for N300 million over his unlawful detention. Despite a court order to release or charge him, Speed Darlington remains in custody.

Recall that Speed Darlington’s arrest originated from a petition filed by singer Burna Boy, accusing him of defamation and cyberstalking.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled January 13, 2025, for the hearing of Speed Darlington’s case against the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. This comes after Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Abubakar Marshal, requested a postponement to allow the IGP’s lawyer, Garba Audu, to review the case files before the hearing.

Speed Darlington’s decision to sue Kayode Egbetokun sparked discussions online  with many sharing their thoughts on the matter.
