In a heartwarming display of integrity, Robert Dzer, a Nigerian youth, has been hailed as a hero for promptly returning N235,000 mistakenly sent to his OPay account. The sender, Ephraim, had intended the funds for his mother and sister’s school fees.

Robert recounted the incident on Facebook, saying, “This afternoon, my phone vibrated while I was taking a nap, and I received a notification from OPay. I checked my phone and saw that one Mr. Ephraim had mistakenly sent N235,000 to my account.”

“A few minutes later, I received a call from Ephraim, who explained that the money was meant for his mother and sister’s school fees. I promised to refund him immediately, and I did so after our call,” Robert said.

As a token of appreciation, Ephraim sent Robert N7,000. Robert shared, “Oga sent me N7,000 to ‘hold body’ for being an honest and trustworthy Nigerian.”

In an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, Robert revealed his thoughts upon receiving the unexpected credit alert. “When I saw the money, I was shocked because I wasn’t expecting it. I knew it wasn’t mine, and my conscience wouldn’t allow me to keep it. I was patiently waiting for the sender to call so I could return the money.”

Robert, a business management graduate from Benue State University, emphasized, “My conscience won’t allow me to keep what isn’t mine. So I returned the money, and he credited me back with N7,000.”

Ephraim’s gratitude was palpable, as Robert noted, “He’s a cool guy. He was so happy, he couldn’t stop thanking me.”

Robert’s selfless act has earned him widespread admiration on social media, with many praising his integrity and honesty.
